About us

Who we are and why we exist

Founded in 2006 in Yaoundé, Cameroon by Reine Aimée TCHALEU and formally registered as a nonprofit in 2009, Association Tabitha Dorcas is a Christian-inspired organization that accompanies vulnerable children and families through education, nutrition, counselling and practical support. Since 2018, the association has been led by its President, Peter Collins TABI-CHU, who strengthens its governance and long-term vision.

Our official motto

Amour · Solidarité · Hospitalité

Children at the center

We see the world through the eyes of the child and ask: what do they need to grow, learn and hope again?

With families, not instead of them

Our support strengthens families and caregivers, respecting their dignity and role in the child's life.

Together with partners

We work side by side with churches, schools, organizations and friends who share the same heart.

A future where every child can grow with hope and dignity

We dream of communities where children are protected, educated and encouraged, and where families have the support they need to provide a safe and loving environment.

Founding scripture

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. [...] Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Matthew 25:35-40

What we believe

The convictions behind our actions

Association Tabitha Dorcas is Christian-inspired. Our faith motivates us to love, serve and defend the most vulnerable with humility and respect for all.

1

We believe every child is created by God with unique value and potential.

2

We believe love must be practical: listening, feeding, teaching, comforting and standing with families.

3

We believe in restoring dignity, not creating dependency.

4

We believe in working together with churches, communities and organizations for lasting change.

Our values

What guides the way we serve

These values shape our daily decisions on the field, in our offices and in our partnerships.

ATADOR community gathering — the work continues

“I did not start an organisation. I started by loving one child. Then another. Then another.”

Reine Aimée TCHALEU, Founder

In 2006, Reine Aimée TCHALEU began quietly — visiting children in Yaoundé who had no one, bringing food, sitting with them, listening. She had no office, no budget, no plan beyond the next child in front of her. What she had was conviction: that every child deserves dignity. Thirteen years later, that conviction has become an association that touches hundreds of lives every year.
